Well, due to my lack of TV, I sat down yesterday to watch the 2nd of 10 videos. This one was entitled “The Gift”. It’s main focus was the continued development of jazz through the 1920s following World War I. It looked at the lives of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, how each was brought into jazz as a young man and how their careers progressed to a convergence in the Northern US.

What did strike me was some of the natural born talents of these people, as well as the easy mentorship relationships that arose and helped to move the music forward. Looking forward to more of this.
